End-of-Year (EOY) Activities
1. Why is my student not allowed to participate in the 8th-grade end-of-year activities (Wild Water)?"
Answer: To be eligible, students were required to meet the following criteria:

Complete a minimum of 20 hours on I-Ready: 10 hours in Reading and 10 hours in Math.

Maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA
Unfortunately, students who did not meet these requirements are not eligible to participate in the Wild Water end-of-year activity. Students and families were notified multiple times, including through Parent Square, regarding the participation requirements for the 8th-grade end-of-year activities.
2. Can I take my student to Wild Water Adventures on the day of the event?"
Answer: It is a regular school day, and students are still expected to attend school. In addition, Wild Water will be closed to the public that day.
3. Does my student have to purchase their own ticket to Wild Water?
Answer: No, Tickets will be provided by the school for all eligible students as well as snacks, drinks and lunch.
4. What are the requirements to participate in 7th-grade EOY activities?
Answer: Students must maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher, successfully complete their Exit Project, and log a minimum of 20 hours on I-Ready--10hours in English/10hours in Math. If students earned a 3.0 GPA, they automatically qualify.
Promotion Ceremony
1. What are the requirements to participate in the Promotion Ceremony?
Answer: Students must complete the Exit Project, log 20 hours on I-Ready—10 hours in English/10hours in Math and maintain a 2.0 or higher GPA. If students have a 3.0 GPA, they automatically qualify.
2. If my student does not attend the promotion ceremony for whatever reason, will they still be promoted to high school?
Answer: Yes, even if your child does not participate in the promotion ceremony celebration, the promotion to high school is based on academics. Your son/daughter will continue onto High School.
3. When and how will tickets for the promotion ceremony be distributed?
Answer: Two (2) Tickets will be given to students with ceremony rules and regulations on June 9th
4. What is the location and time of the Promotion Ceremony?
Answer: Thursday, June 11th, 9:00 am Gaston Middle School GYM –1100 E. Church Ave., Fresno, CA. 93706
Grades & GPA
1. Can my student still get credit for completing assignments after final grades have been submitted?
Answer: Yes, at the discretion of the teacher, Final date of Quarter 4 is June 11th
2. My student has a GPA over 3.0. Are they still required to complete outstanding incomplete assignments?
Answer: Yes, the end of year eligibility deadline for GPA was simply to participate in the EOY Celebrations; it is not a representation of their final grades.
3. Can my student turn in make-up work or log extra I-Ready hours to bring up their grades right now?
Answer: Certain teachers are still accepting make-up work. Please check with teacher.
4. When were final grades officially finalized and locked?
Answer: Thursday, June 11th the last day of school.
5. Who should I contact if I have questions about my student's recent grades?
Answer: Teacher, School Counselor or you may use the ATLAS Parent Portal to view grades.

Where can I find all the official school notices and updates regarding my child?
Answer: You can find most information on Parent Square or Atlas. For further questions please contact the Gaston office at 559-457-3400

Why wasn't I notified about my student's eligibility status before now?
Answer: Beginning in April, every student was given a notification every two weeks regarding their status.
-Exit Project was Due May 4th
-20 hours I-Ready was Due May 22nd
-GPA Deadline May 22nd
-Eligibility notice for Promotion will be sent home with student May 29th. Please have that conversation with your child.

My student just recently started attending Gaston Middle School. Are they still eligible to participate in end-of-year events?
Answer: Final determination for eligibility will be based on grades from previous school and at the discretion of the school administration. If there is a concern regarding this, please contact their School Counselor.
