Rutherford B. Gaston Middle School

Welcome to Gaston Middle School. I am honored to be the principal of the crown jewel of west Fresno, known as Rutherford B. Gaston Middle School. Building on a rich history of amazing leaders, it is with with great anticipation and optimism that I invite you to the 2023- 2024 school year. As vacation comes to an end, remember that tomorrow is the first day of a new chapter. The renewed opportunity to create and accomplish new goals.

This year, we have the honor of celebrating Rutherford B. Gaston’s 10-year anniversary. In comparison to other middle schools within Fresno Unified we are a new campus. However, our history, legacy, and culture can be dated back for generations and will never be forgotten as they live on in the halls of Gaston Middle School. You are entering into the history books; how will your family name be remembered?

We proudly offer an array of courses and opportunities that will prepare students for future success. From state-of-the-art facilities and a safe learning environment to a diverse staff and student population, Gaston is truly a one of kind campus. All students will be encouraged and provided opportunities to reach their full capabilities.

Gaston Middle School is a place where our students, staff, and community will be safe. Nurturing a safe environment creates a place where all are supported through their mistakes, all are comfortable asking for help, and all share ideas that propel us to innovation through education. Our school is a safe place where we support one another to relentlessly pursue our goals and aspirations. Through Professional Learning Communities our teachers share best instructional practices and analyze data from standard-aligned assessments which supports the growth of every student on campus. When teachers have high expectations, believe in, care for, and motivate students, we achieve success. We provide students with the support and love that is essential to meeting their social emotional needs. We believe students learn best in an environment that is disciplined, fosters respect for all, and encourages learning!

As a courageous leader it is my purpose to continue building on the legacy, culture, and traditions of West Fresno and Gaston Middle School. With integrity, I will identify our assets and take on challenges that impact student achievement.
